In Harrachov, it will be like in Hannover. Historic Volkswagens will gather there. Prague, August 19, 2024 – Historic Volkswagen vehicles will gather under the ski jumps in Harrachov from May 23 to 25, 2025, where their owners will exchange experiences, share their passion, and take the opportunity to bring out their well-maintained, but often long-idle cars from the garages. The event will also feature accompanying programs such as a museum, cinema, and live music performances. "When we visited the annual VW Transporter meeting in Hannover in 2023, we were so excited that we came up with the idea to organize our own event in the Czech Republic," explains Tomáš Pavlík, one of the organizers of the Harrachov gathering. The event is organized by a group of enthusiasts who share a passion for vintage Volkswagen models like the T1, T2, T3, Beetle, Buggy, Karmann, as well as some models from the Porsche brand, whose spiritual father is Ferdinand Porsche.

An event for both current and future generations.

"We plan to reach out to the entire VW scene with rear-engine vehicles, regardless of club affiliation or nationality. Our goal is not to establish another club; we simply want to bring together owners and enthusiasts of Volkswagens in one place, " explains Alexander Baňas, another of the event organizers, adding, "We also want to show younger generations the vehicles that have been preserved within our community." The VW enthusiasts' gathering will take place from May 23 to 25, 2025, in Harrachov, a location where veteran car meetups have been held in the past. Libor Horáček, another organizer, secured the opportunity to host the VW Festival in the area beneath the ski jumps, thanks to his connections with the town of Harrachov.

Visitors from afar are also welcome. In the still-developing program of the Harrachov VW Festival, a pop-up Volkswagen museum is planned, along with a cinema screening VW-themed films, a spare parts and car market, two music bands, and a stylish food truck catering. "We don't expect anywhere near the attendance of Hannover, where 80,000 people and 6,000 cars gathered at the airport. The event in Harrachov will be much more modest; we anticipate about 500 cars and around 2,000 visitors," estimates Václav Havrda, the fourth organizer of the event. Although the gathering takes place in the Czech Republic, visitors from other countries are also invited. The organizers believe that VW enthusiasts from Poland, Germany, Slovakia, and Austria might also be interested in attending. "For now, it is a one-time event. Let's enjoy it as a meeting place for different generations, friends, and acquaintances who haven't seen each other for a long time, and let’s take it as an opportunity to make new friendships," encourage the organizers.
